There is still room in our Sign Language Camp, so read on to register for that! All other camps are full, but you can still go ahead and register for them, but you will be put on a waiting list.

What is Summer Day Camp?

Summer Day Camp is a fun-filled camp for children who are entering K5 – 6th grade. Children can pick their camp (When you register online) from the following options: Soccer, Art, Baking, Sign Language. Summer Day Camp is designed for kids to engage in a specific activity that they enjoy and grow in their understanding and skill in it. The emphasis of Summer Day Camps is for kids to LOVE the activity they choose. In the afternoon, children will engage in more general camp activities, like crafts, games, and a Bible lesson.

What will my child be doing at Summer Day Camp?

Here is daily schedule:

8:50am – Drop off starts; children go to the camp that they signed up for

9:00am – Main Camps (Soccer, Art, Baking, Sign Language)

11:30am – Lunch (Provided by WCC) – consisting of fruit, vegetable, granola bar, fruit snacks, chips, and peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. You can bring your own lunch if these options will not be sufficient for your child.

12:00pm – Crafts

12:30pm – Recess/free play

1:00pm – Bible lesson

1:30pm – Games

2:00pm – Pick-up

How much does Summer Day Camps cost?

Nothing! It is completely free! If you are the type of person that dislikes receiving something for free however, you can make a donation at www.wheatlandchurch.com/giving if you would like. Please know that we do not expect or ask you to donate.

What does my child need to bring?

If signing up for Soccer Camp: Bring your own soccer ball (we will not have many extras) and water bottle filled with water. Shin-guards are encouraged but not mandatory.

If signing up for Art Camp: Bring clothes you don’t mind getting stained/painted on, or a smock.

If signing up for Baking Camp: No need to bring anything special: maybe an apron!

If signing up for Sign Language Camp: No need to bring anything special.

What will my child be learning/doing in the various camps?

Soccer Camp: Grades K5 – 6th – Children will learn the basic rules and skills of soccer. Students will engage in some practice drills in a fun and compelling way. There will be ample time for games/scrimmages as well. Children will be split up by age groups (K-2 and 3-6). On the final day of camp, we will have a tournament for both age levels. On Sunday, July 18th, at 10:00am, we will celebrate the children’s accomplishments with awards ceremony and a BBQ lunch. There will also be opportunity after the service/lunch to enjoy a game of soccer!

Art Camp: Grades K5 – 6th – Creative expressive art. Children will have fun playing with different mediums to express themselves. On Sunday, July 18th, at 10:00am, the children’s work from Art Camp will be on display and judged professionally. Ribbons will awarded. Please plan to enjoy a BBQ lunch with us and see the children’s artwork on display.

Baking Camp: Grades 3rd – 6th – Bring your apron and get ready for five fantastic days of baking, fun, and learning. The final project will be served on Sunday, July 18th, at 10:00am. Please plan to join us and enjoy the desserts the children make as well as a BBQ lunch!

Sign Language (ASL) Camp: Grades 3rd – 6th – During this class, we will cover the alphabet, numbers, signs, basic introduction to American Sign Language, with the use of games to reinforce what they are learning. We will briefly touch on deafness, deaf culture, and / or provide some deaf history. Our goal is to provide students with skills in conversational sign language so they can try to communicate with people in the D/deaf community respectfully.

On Sunday, July 18th, at 10:00am, The Sign Language Camp will be presenting a short song and/or scripture verse to sign together during the service.  Please plan to join us and enjoy the BBQ lunch afterwards.
